Ben Is Impressed, And Rightfully So.

In a post of praise for Deb Ball & Lucy West, Ben Blum-Smith transcribes a conversation in a classroom, in which a teacher guides student discussion with this technique:  having one student summarize another student’s reasoning without correcting it.  That’s a key point to making a person’s mind sharp: get them to distinguish clearly between what the reasoning is and what the truth value of the reasoning is. 

I now have a new goal for my classroom practice.
